The main funding for NNP is a 51.4 MNOK infrastructure grant from the Research Council of Norway. The grant was used to buy the three high-field NMR spectrometers, with one spectrometer placed at each of three NNP nodes. In addtion to the three main instrument, several other NMR spectrometers were bought or upgrades by the respective universities, including UiT.

In 2017 a new 600 MHz was included in NNP at the UiB node. This spectrometer was funded by Bergen Research Foundation,  Sparebankstiftinga Sogn og FjordaneHelse Bergen, and University of Bergen.
